Facebook Opens new Office, Grows to 5,000

Facebook added a new office space in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, close to Amazon headquarters.  As previously reported, Facebook added more jobs in Seattle.  On Thursday, Facebook unveiled their latest numbers to show their workforce up to 5,000.

The new office located on 8th Avenue North is a two-structure complex.  The first building opened earlier this May.  Both buildings can house about 2,000 employees.  In total, Facebook has 18 offices in the Greater Seattle region.  As mentioned in a previous blog, Facebook signed a lease to open an office in Bellevue.  This building is currently under construction and set to be completed in 2021.  We also learned Facebook has opened and is currently growing their Redmond campus.

Facebook is growing rapidly, and not just in our region.They employ nearly 40,000 worldwide. Based in Menlo. California, Facebook first came to Seattle in 2010.Now it is one of the largest out of town tech companies in Seattle, just behind Google.
