Seattle Ranks High in Job and Pay Growth

Seattle has been booming, in both population growth, and according to the latest Glassdoor report, in job and pay growth as well.  Seattle has been known for its technology giants like Amazon and Microsoft that has been bringing in new residents for the last several years.  The city has also had new companies come and set up shop in Seattle, creating jobs in construction to build new office spaces and within its company.  However, technology is not the largest industry with job openings.  Healthcare leads the way with nearly 17,000 openings.

Seattle has typically seen an increase in available jobs year over year.  Ranked third in the nation for highest job growth, it’s no wonder Seattle finds itself with over 1,000 new residents per month.  As just mentioned, healthcare posted the highest number of job openings.  The technology sector came next with just over 12,000 jobs.  Companies include the aforementioned Amazon, Facebook, local hospitals, Tableau, and Google are all hiring.

As one of the largest growing cities in the nation, Seattle also ranked as the second highest pay growth, trailing only to San Francisco.  Seattle’s median pay is $63,247, which is up 2.4% year over year, beating the nation’s growth of 2% and median pay of $53,273.

We will continue to see a trend of growth in Seattle.  With low unemployment rates, Seattle will continue to thrive.
